Tomb Robert Dudley, Lord Denbigh Tudor monument of a Child

 

This alabaster free standing wall monument in the Beauchamp Chapel of St Mary's Warwick, is dedicated to Robert Dudley ("the Noble Impe"), Lord Denbigh, who died in 1584 at the age of four. He was the son of Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester and Lettice Knollys.

 

The monument contains a recumbent effigy of a child, his head resting on a cushion and a bear at his feet. Above the effigy is the family coat of Arms with strapwork, fruit, and two standing bears on either side.
