Prince Arthur Tudor (1486-1502) was Henry VII and Elizabeth of York's eldest son. Destined to be king of England he was married to Catherine of Aragon in 1501. After marrying Arthur and Catherine travelled to Ludlow Castle where he died suddenly on the 2nd April 1502. The cause of death is unknown it has been thought to have been either consumption, diabetes, or more recently hantavirus. Catherine herself was also taken ill with the same symptoms as Arthur but recovered.
