Robert Steward Monument - Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire

Robert Steward (d1570) was an ancestor of Oliver Cromwell and cousin of the last prior and first dean of Ely. The recumbent effigy is dressed in armour sporting bogus heraldry. The inscription reads:

nine lustres had not passed, nor was he wed, Ere hurrying fate laid Robert Steward dead, So much, O passer-by I'd have you know, for more to generous fame I bid you go.
