This is a large genus of bee mimicking hoverflies. There are about 50 European species mostly centred in the Mediterranean region. However, the variable Narcissus-fly (Merodon equestris) is the only species resident in Britain.

King John of England - Worcester Cathedral

Tomb of King John the youngest son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Made from Purbeck marble the sarcophagus dates from about 1230 and is the earliest effigy in the country to an English king. Originally the effigy would have lain on the floor, but as more elaborate tombs were installed in later years, John's effigy was raised up to rest on a tomb chest that was made in about 1540. 

Anup Talao and Pavilion

Completed in 1576, the Anup Talao, or peerless pool, is in the Mahal-i Khass courtyard near to the Khwabgah (Royal apartments). Made of red sandstone this square water tank, has four bridges that lead over the water to a central platform surrounded by a jali balustrade.
