These stained glass windows in the clerestory ⓘ of Quire at Gloucester Cathedral were made by Clayton and Bell in the early second half of the 19th century. The original medieval clerestory glass had been transferred to fill in damaged panels in other windows in the cathedral notably the great east window and the window in the Lady Chapel.
The east window at Gloucester Cathedral was created as part of the rebuilding of the abbey church of St Peter ⓘ. Built in the Perpendicular style it was the largest window in Europe. The decorative scheme portrays the Coronation of the Virgin and the glass mostly dates from the 1350s.
