Red Underwing (Catocala nupta)

 

The Catocala are a genus of moths in the Erebidae family of Noctuoidea. Commonly called the 'underwings' there are 250 species of mostly medium to large adults, that are well camoflaged except for the hindwings which are often brightly coloured red, white and blue.
