This tomb dedicated to Francesco Algarotti (d1764), in the Camposanto Monumentale, Pisa, was designed by Mauro Antonio Tesi. It was erect on the instructions of Frederick the Great of Prussia.

 

 

Tomb of Galileo Galilei - Santa Croce Florence

The tomb of Galileo Galilei (d1642) at Santa Croce in Florence was erected in 1737. It was designed by Giulio Foggini and contains a bust of Galileo Galilei (by Giovanni Battista Foggini), and figures representing Astronomy (by Vincenzo Foggini), and Geometry (by Girolamo Ticciati).

 

 

Tomb of the Children of France - Tours Cathedral

This tomb, in Tours cathedral, by Michel Colombe was made in 1506 for the two sons of Charles VIII of France and Anne of Brittany. It is reputed to be the first tomb in the region that was made in the Italian style.

Life of Saint Martin Clerestory Window

This window depicting the Life of St Martin is one of the choir clerestory windows at Tours Cathedral. The main window consists of some eighteen panels in six registers and is dated to the completion of the just after the rebuilding of the chancel in last part of the 13th century.

This window, at Tours cathedral, is dated to the last part of the 13th century, was donated to Tours Cathedral by the Canons of the Collegiate church at Loches in commemoration for the Treaty of Paris (1259) between Louis IX of France and Henry III of England.

This rose window in the south transept of Evreux Cathedral was given to the Cathedral by Louis XI of France between 1470 and 1480. It is 6.5 metres in diameter and represents the Coronation of the Virgin in Heaven. Below the rose window the lancet windows in the Gallery contain representations of eight of the Apostles.
