Death of the Virgin

 

This stained glass window (1467-1469) in the south wall of the Lady Chapel at Evreux Cathedral, depicts the Death of the Virgin Mary in the upper registers. The three panels at the top of this window contain the Death of the Virgin, the 12 Apostles in the centre and above them is a Coronation of the Virgin scene, the right most panel depicts the funeral of the Virgin.1

 

The three panels in the lower part of the window contain images of St Helen, St Luke Painting the Virgin, and the Virgin protecting pope Paul II and King Louis XI of France.
