15th-century tombs

1401–1500
15th-century tombs

15th-century tombs (c. 1400–1500) are often elaborate effigial monuments in stone or alabaster. Recumbent figures, sometimes accompanied by heraldic shields or family imagery, combine chivalric display with devotional purpose, reflecting wealth, lineage, and an intensified awareness of death and commemoration.
