The Hedda stone, in Peterborough Cathedral, dated to about 870AD. It contains the carved figures of twelve monks, and is thought to represent those killed in Danish raids.

St Aignan - Last Judgment

This early fifteenth century wall painting of Christ at the Last Judgement sitting on a rainbow between praying figures of the Virgin Mary and St John the Evangelist, can be found in the Collegiate Church of St Aignan.

 

 

Last Judgement and Doom

A common subject painted in medieval churches where scenes of the "Last Judgment" or "Doom". Often they would be painted above the chancel arch. A central figure of risen Christ with the instruments of the passion would be painted, or a crucifixion with the Virgin Mary and St John the Evangelist.

Alabaster tomb of Sir John Cressy (d1445) Dodford, Northamptonshire. The sides of the tomb chest have angels holding shields, and the offices he held in France are listed around the top edge.

Lady of the Gifford Family - Worcester Cathedral

Effigy of a lady from about 1300, thought to be a member of the Gifford family. This monument is under the Prince Arthur chantry chapel.

 

Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac

This window in the St Anne Chapel, Malvern Priory, has twelve scenes depicting the Story of Noah and the Flood, and birth of Isaac. It is dated to between 1440-1450 and was probably the gift of Isabel Despenser and Richard de Beauchamp, 13th earl of Warwick.

 

The bottom register of the window shows four scenes from the story of Abraham, Sarah, and the birth of Isaac.

Monument to Louis de Brézé - Rouen Cathedral

This monument to Louis de Brézé (d1531) is the work of Jean Goujon (1510-1572) who was commissioned by Diane de Poitiers, Louis wife. Louis was the son of  King Charles VII of France's illegitimate daughter Charlotte de France.
