Geometrinae are a subfamily of Geometridae moths that are commonly called Emeralds. These are typically medium to small moths with slender bodies and broad wings. Most species are bright green, often with delicate white, yellow, or darker green lines or bands across the wings. This colouration often fades to yellow or brown in museum specimens. The wings of many species have wavy, fine crosslines and small discal spots. Their green colour helps them to blend with leaves, making them well-camouflaged during the day. The caterpillars often resemble twigs for camouflage, and feed on a wide range of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants.
