Bishop of Worcester 1218-1236. The effigy on the tomb is in the Romanesque style and lacks the detailed modelling that would become the hallmark of Gothic sculpture.
In his first year as bishop he imposed restrictive measures against the Jewish community of Worcester, although William Marshal, the regent of Henry III, had confirmed the right of Jews to live there unmolested. He was responsible for the building of the Lady Chapel where his tomb currently lies.
