Reliquary of St Taurin - Evreux

Made between 1240-1255 by a Paris goldsmith, to hold the relics of St Taurin, this shrine was commissioned by the abbot Gislebert de Saint-Martin. The reliquary weighs 82kg and is made of bronze silver and gold leaf over a wooden chest.

 

Resurrection etc - Evreux Cathedral

This window was donated to the Cathedral by King Louis XI of France in 1467-1469. It's eight panels depicts events from the Resurrection to the Last Judgement of Christ.

Tomb of Richard I of England (d1199). This is one of three tombs to Richard I, this one is said to contain his heart, his entrails were buried in Châlus (where he died), and the rest of his body was buried at the feet of his father, Henry II, at Fontevraud Abbey in Anjou.

Royal Portal - Chartres Cathedral

Since its construction in around 1150, the western portal of Chartres Cathedral, decorated with elongated late Romanesque style figures of the Kings and Queens of the Old Testament has been known as the Royal Portal.

Saint Lubin

Saint Lubin, or Leobinus, was a 6th century bishop of Chartres. This window from the early 13th century depicts events in his life, and was donated to the cathedral by the Winesellers and innkeepers of the town of Chartres.
