Saint-Étienne Bourges

Construction of Bourges cathedral began in 1195 and was finally completed and dedicated to St Stephen in 1324. With its five portals the western façade, which was completed in 1230, is the widest of any Gothic church spanning some 40 metres.

These stained glass windows by Max Ingrand are on the south aisle of the church of Saint-Taurin in Evreux. They depict Abraham sacrificing Isaac, The Mass, and the uncommon theme of Christ in the Wine Press.

This window in Saint-Étienne de Beauvais, is dated 1548 and i9s signed by Nicolas le Prince. It contains three scenes from the life of St Peter, and the conversion of St Paul on the Road to Damascus.

This window of St. Peter receiving the keys of heaven, in the church of Notre Dame la Blanche, Selles-sur-Cher, is by Claudius Lavergne. The window is dated 1889 which is two years after Claudius Lavergne's death.

The company is currently run by Benoît Marq, the son of Brigitte Simon (daughter of Jacques Simon) and Charles Marq, making him the twelfth generation to run this family firm.

These 5 stained glass windows are part of a series of 10 windows on the life of Joan of Arc. They are part of a commission by Jacque Galland and Esprit Gibelin for Orleans Cathedral in France.

 

 

South Transept Rose Window - Evreux Cathedral

This rose window in the south transept of Evreux Cathedral was given to the Cathedral by Louis XI of France between 1470 and 1480. It is 6.5 metres in diameter and represents the Coronation of the Virgin in Heaven. Below the rose window the lancet windows in the Gallery contain representations of eight of the Apostles.

 

St Leufredus - Evreux

19th century stained glass of St. Leufroy (Leufredus) who was the founder of the Benedictine monastery at La-Croix Saint-Ouen, some 13km from Evreux. Leufroy grew up in Evreux and for a time was a teacher in the town.
