Sack of Limoges 1370

In 1370 the city of Limoges was allied with English cause, but on the 21st of August the bishop, Jean de Cros, surrendered the city to the Duke of Berry.1 By mid September the Black Prince reached the city and demanded the town's surrender. On the 19th of September 1370, after a 5 day siege by the Black Prince, the walls of the city of Limoges were breached by mining underneath them. Some 300 of the population were killed and the town looted.2
