The deposed king Edward II died at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire on the 11th of October 1327, and is buried at Gloucester cathedral. It is widely believed that he was murdered on the orders of his wife Isabella of France and Roger Mortimer. He had been succeeded by his 14 year old son Edward III some months earlier.
