Henry Tudor and Elizabeth of York - Stanford on Avon

The lower part of the east window at St. Nicholas Stanford on Avon, Northamptonshire is a large piece of work glorifying Henry VII and the Tudor Dynasty and is probably C19 in date, and was found packed away in 1932. Consisting of five lights the left and right hand lights contain portraits of Henry Tudor and Elizabeth of York respectively. The central light has the Royal Coat of Arms. The light next to the portrait of Henry shows a Welsh dragon, whilst that next to Elizabeth has a white greyhound of Richmond, which represents Henry's father Edmund Tudor, who was Earl of Richmond. Also prominent are the Rose and Portcullis both Tudor Heraldic emblems.
