White Plume moth (Pterophorus pentadactyla)

Pterophoridae is a family of moths that are known as the plume moths. These are small to medium-sized moths, with wingspans typically 10–30 mm. Where the forewings are deeply divided into 2 slender lobes and the hindwings are divided into 3 lobes which gives the wings a plume-like or T-shaped appearance when at rest they hold their wings outstretched horizontally, forming a T-shape with the body. Usually cryptic with shades of white, brown, gray, or tan, often matching their environment. Though some tropical species can be more brightly coloured. The body is slender, with long legs often adorned with spines or tufts. With thin, feathery wings and cryptic colouration they resemble dried grass, twigs, or leaf fragments. Caterpillars are small, slender, and often hairy, some feed externally on leaves or flowers, others are leaf-rollers, stem-borers, or seed feeders.
