Helcystogramma
Primary tabs

Helcystogramma is a genus of moths in the Gelechiidae family. Moths in this genus are generally small, with wingspans typically ranging from 8–20 mm. Their forewings often have intricate patterns, sometimes metallic or iridescent, which can help in species identification, whilst the hindwings are usually narrower and lighter in colour. The wing colours vary but are often shades of brown, gray, or yellow with distinct markings such as streaks, spots, or lines. Some species exhibit sexual dimorphism, where males and females differ slightly in wing patterns or size. Like most gelechiids, larvae are leaf miners, stem borers, or feed on seeds and flowers, depending on the species. Larval host plants vary among species, including grasses, herbaceous plants, and sometimes economically important crops. Because of larval feeding habits, some species may be minor agricultural pests.
