Nativity by Martin Dunn - St Peter Market Bosworth
1951

This stained glass window at Market Bosworth, created by Martin Travers Dunn, beautifully represents the Nativity in a serene and devotional composition. It consists of three tall lancet panels surmounted by tracery lights, which together radiate both warmth and reverence.
In the central panel, the Virgin Mary ⓘ stands in calm adoration, robed in soft blue and white, tenderly presenting the Christ Child. To the left, a young shepherd cradles a lamb, symbolizing innocence and Christ’s future role as the Good Shepherd. On the right, another shepherd holds a staff and gazes upward, his face illuminated by faith and wonder.
Dunn’s style here blends traditional Gothic structure with mid 20th-century sensitivity.
