Bodard, Gaston de
Active: c. 1945–1980
Gaston de Bodard (1897–1980) was a painter and designer active in the mid-20th century, known for his ecclesiastical work in the Loire region. Trained as a decorative artist, he brought to stained glass a modern clarity of form and colour, favouring simplified geometry and expressive religious symbolism.
De Bodard worked as a designer, supplying cartoons for stained glass executed by master-glaziers. His documented collaboration with Louis Gouffault of Orléans includes the post-war window of Notre-Dame de la Blanche at Pontlevoy, reflecting contemporary approaches to devotional imagery in a regional parish context.
