Neuroptera

The Snakeflies (Raphidioptera) are a family of insects that are listed amongst the sub-order Megaloptera. These insects are predatory in both the larvae and adult stages, and are completely terrestrial, and the female has a large ovipositor with which she places her eggs under loose bark.

 

These are the Alderflies which are currently in the order Megaloptera. There are 66 species worldwide and all come under the genus or are a subgenus of Sialis.
