Romanesque font West Haddon, Northamptonshire

 

Discovered in 1887 this C12 square bowled font has carved scenes from the life of Crist on all four sides.

This C12 font has a circular bowl with a bead decoration which is supported by three crouching Atlas figures supporting the red sandstone bowl.

Born in St. Albans in 1909 Francis Skeat was a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, the British Society of Master Glass Painters, and a member of the Art Workers Guild. He created over 400 stained glass windows for churches and cathedrals both in the UK and abroad.
