Life of Saint Martin Clerestory Window

This window depicting the Life of St Martin is one of the choir clerestory windows at Tours Cathedral. The main window consists of some eighteen panels in six registers and is dated to the completion of the just after the rebuilding of the chancel in last part of the 13th century.

Lives of Saint Peter and St Paul - Tours Cathedral

 

Dated from about 1260 this 13th century stained glass window at Tours cathedral. The window is designed with five quatrefoil designs running up the centre of the window. Each design as five image, one in each corner and one in the centre of each quatrefoil. The resulting 20 scenes documents events in the life of SS Peter and Paul.

 

 

Martyrs - Chartres Cathedral

 

 

 

The south porch of Chartres Cathedral contains a series of sculptures, that were made between 1194 and 1230, on the subject of the martyrdom of saints.

 

Mary Magdalene

 

Depicting the events in the life of Mary of Magdalene this window, in Chartres Cathedral, is from about 1210. According to Christian tradition she was one of Jesus' follows in Galilee, healed of seven devils, was present at the crucifixion, was the person to find the tomb empty, and the first person whom Jesus appeared to and given the task of announcing his Resurrection.

Noah Mosaics - Monreale Sicily

 

The central aisle of the south wall, of Monreale Cathedral, contains a sequence of mosaics (c1218) that tell the story of Noah and the Flood.

Noah Window

This early 13th century window depicts the story of Noah, was donated to the Cathedral of Chartres by the town's carpenters, wheelwrights, and coopers.
