On the 21st of December 1124, Lamberto Scannabecchi was elected Pope Honorius II. His predecessor Pope Callistus II had died on the 13th of December and the Cardinals, on the 15th of December, originally elected Teobaldo Boccapeccora, but an armed gang led by Roberto Frangipani objected to the election and Teobaldo was wounded and resigned. The Cardinals then elected Lamberto, who refused to accept the position until five days later when all the Cardinals elected him Pope.
