On the 31st of August 1422, Henry V of England died at the Château de Vincennes near Paris, aged 36.1 His death was probably caused by an illness contracted during the Siege of Meaux which had finally fallen, three months earlier, on the 10th of May 1422.2
During his last days he made a will putting the rule of France, during the minority of his newly born son, into the hands of his brother John, Duke of Bedford,3 and that of England in the hands of his other brother Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester.3 Whilst responsibility for the education of his son was given to Richard de Beauchamp.4
His body was brought back to England and buried in Westminster Abbey on the 7th of November 1422.5
