Tree-of-Jesse Theme Pages

A depiction of the ancestors of Christ starting from the father of King David, Jesse of Bethlehem.

This Tree of Jesse (1468) at Evreux Cathedral with its central figure of the Virgin Mary and Child, also depicts King David in the lower left, and King Solomon in the lower right. Other prophets and kings are shown on to the left and right of the central figures.

 

This stained glass window (c1470), in St Maclou in Rouen, represents the Tree of Jesse, with the Virgin and Child in the central position..

This Tree of Jesse in the church of St Godard Rouen, is the work of Arnoult de Nimégue (1506). It consists of a number of figures in the French Renaissance style.
