Andrew II of Hungary sets off on the 5th Crusade 1217

Andrew II of Hungary leaves Spalato with 20,000 knights to participate in the 5th Crusade organized by Pope Honorius III. They head for Cyrus and then on to Acre. However, only 3000-4000 actually embarked at Spit.
Arriving in Acre, he joined other Crusader leaders, including John of Brienne, the titular King of Jerusalem. Despite being the only European king present, Andrew did not take a leading role in the campaign. He participated in several minor battles, but after a few months, decided to return to Hungary, leaving behind most of his troops
