Tom Denny is one of the leading contemporary British stained-glass artists, renowned for a highly personal and painterly approach to light, colour, and surface. His work combines a deep engagement with medieval stained-glass techniques and iconography with a distinctly modern sensibility, characterised by atmospheric colour, abstraction, and an acute response to architectural and landscape setting.

This window presents St Vedast (St Vaast), the first bishop of Arras–Cambrai and one of the foundational missionaries of northern France. Shown in the upper register in episcopal vestments with crozier uplifted, Vedast appears as the spiritual protector of the diocese and principal patron of the cathedral. Below, two figures approach him, likely representing early catechumens or newly converted Franks, recalling his documented role in the evangelisation of the region and his tutelage of King Clovis before the latter’s baptism at Reims.

The Emmaus window by Heaton, Butler & Bayne, created in 1925, is a stained-glass triptych set in a South chancel window at Market Bosworth. Made by the London firm known for its Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite style, it depicts the biblical Supper at Emmaus across three panels.

Haig, Henry

Henry Haig studied painting and sculture at Wimbledon School of Art between 1945 and 1950. From 1952 to 1955 he studied stained glass at the Royal College of Art. After teaching in schools for five years, he opened his own studio.

Ingrand, Max

[no-glossary]Max Ingrand[/no-glossary] was a major French stained glass artist of the second half of the 20th century, and awarded the French Legion of Honour. He was Born in Bressuire on 20 December 1908, and spent part of his childhood in Chartres. A student of Jacques Gruber at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
