This Adoration of the Magio (1442-3) is in cell 39 of the San Marco convent in Florence. Once thought to be the work of Fra Angelico it is now attributed to Benozzo Gozzoli. This particular cell was reserved for Cosimo de Medici and was used by Pope Eugenius IV when he consecrated the church in 1443.

Both Cosimo and Lorenzo were member of the confraternity of the Magi and the theme of the Epiphany held a special significance for the Medici and Benozzo Gozzoli painted a larger and grander version in the chapel of the Medici Palace.
