Colour forms of Ischnura elegans

Female Ischnura elegans have a number of colour forms. They start life with either a reddish-pink (rufescens) or with a violet (violacea) thorax. As they mature the rufescens form becomes a yellow brown, whilst the violacea form can become bluish like the male, or develop a brown thorax.
