St Etheldreda and St Wilfrid - Guilsborough, Northamptonshire

This two-light stained glass window, by J. Powell & Sons (Whitefriars), designed by J. W. Brown ⓘ, depicts St Etheldreda ⓘ and St Wilfrid ⓘ, rendered as standing full-length figures beneath delicately patterned Gothic canopies.
In the left-hand light, St Etheldreda is shown holding a model of Guilsborough church, identifying her as its patron saint. She is dressed in richly patterned robes, her calm expression and upright stance emphasising her role as a royal abbess and foundress. Below her figure are the arms of the Diocese of Ely, with which she is historically associated as founder of Ely Abbey and cathedral.
In the right-hand light, St Wilfrid is depicted holding a crosier and a book, symbols of episcopal authority and teaching. Above him appears a model of a church, reinforcing his role as a church builder and reforming bishop. Beneath his figure are the arms of the Archdiocese of York, reflecting his historic position as Bishop of York.
The window combines clear iconographic identification with restrained early-20th-century Gothic Revival design, using strong leading, rich jewel-like colour, and finely detailed patterned glass characteristic of Whitefriars work of this period.
