Painted by Spinello Aretino, in about 1390, this detached fresco represents the Mystical marriage of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. According to legend Catherine dreamt of a spiritual marriage to Christ and awoke with a ring on her finger.1 This fresco was once part of the Bartolini Salimbeni Chapel, and had been painted over by Lorenzo Monaco.
