Coronation of William II of England 1087

26 September 1087

On the 26th of September 1087, William Rufus the 3rd son of William the Conqueror , was crowned William II of England. William's elder brother, William the Conqueror's second son, having died in a hunting accident in 1070. The ceremony took place at Westminster abbey and was conducted by Archbishop  Lanfranc of Canterbury.
