This is one of two adjoining windows in the cloisters form a unified teaching sequence illustrating Christ’s words, “Suffer the little children to come unto me.” Both windows are characteristic of the later work of John Hardman & Co., identifiable through their vivid enamel palette, strongly outlined figures, and the firm’s distinctive border of alternating ruby, blue, and white quarries with gold devices. The scenes emphasise Christ’s compassion and the Victorian church’s interest in presenting moral instruction through accessible narrative imagery.
