This memorial stained-glass window, executed c. 1918 by Arild Rosenkrantz, commemorates Arthur James (d. 1918) and is installed in the parish church at Churchover, Warwickshire. The date and dedication place the work firmly within the immediate aftermath of the First World War, a context that strongly informs both its iconography and emotional tenor.

Carron, Pierre

Pierre Carron (1932–2022) was a French painter, sculptor, and stained-glass artist whose work bridges the traditions of classical figurative painting and monumental sacred art. Born in Fécamp, Normandy, he studied at the École régionale des Beaux-Arts in Le Havre and the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris before entering the École des Beaux-Arts in 1951 under Raymond Legueult. Carron quickly established himself as one of France’s most gifted young artists, winning the Prix de la Critique in 1957 and the Grand Prix de Rome in 1960.

The two windows in the north wall of the chancel in the Saxon church of All Saints, Brixworth are by Burlison & Grylls, dated 1913 and 1915, they are from the first quarter of the 20th century.

Born in August 8, 1938 in Beuavais, Claude Courageux was educated at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He spent a number of years working with other glass makers in Paris,  including working with Max Ingrand, and seven years working at the firm of Jacques Gruber.

This window presents St Vedast (St Vaast), the first bishop of Arras–Cambrai and one of the foundational missionaries of northern France. Shown in the upper register in episcopal vestments with crozier uplifted, Vedast appears as the spiritual protector of the diocese and principal patron of the cathedral. Below, two figures approach him, likely representing early catechumens or newly converted Franks, recalling his documented role in the evangelisation of the region and his tutelage of King Clovis before the latter’s baptism at Reims.

The Emmaus window by Heaton, Butler & Bayne, created in 1925, is a stained-glass triptych set in a South chancel window at Market Bosworth. Made by the London firm known for its Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite style, it depicts the biblical Supper at Emmaus across three panels.
