A small family of some 200 species of sawflies from the temperate regions of North America and Eurasia. They are commonly called the leaf-rolling, or web spinning sawflies. This is due the larvae's habit of using silk to either build webs or tents, or to roll leaves into tubes in order to feed on the leaves of the host plant. usually Conifers.
