Pammene
Primary tabs

Pammene is a genus of Tortricidae moths. Members of this genus are part of the subfamily Olethreutinae, which includes many species that are associated with trees and shrubs. The Pammene are generally small moths with wingspans often ranging from 10–20 mm. Like many tortricids, they have cryptic, mottled forewings that help them camouflage against bark or leaves, though some species may display metallic or bright markings. The caterpillars typically feed on fruits, seeds, or within plant tissues. A number of Pammene species are linked to deciduous trees, particularly oaks, beeches, and fruit-bearing plants. Larvae may be seed or gall-feeders, and in some cases are minor pests of fruit or nut trees. Overall, Pammene represents a diverse group of tortrix moths, many of which play ecological roles in woodland habitats, with some species occasionally affecting fruit crops.
