Members of this genus are medium-sized moths with wings that tend to be yellowish with dark brown blotches or speckles, giving them a mottled, “camouflaged” look. They resemble butterflies at first glance because of their bright wing colors and resting posture. Their wing shapes are more angular compared to many other Geometridae. Adults are day-flying moths, which is unusual for Geometridae. Their bright yellow-and-brown colouration may serve as warning or disruptive camouflage, making them harder to spot among sunlit flowers and foliage. The caterpillars are more cryptic, often green or brownish, blending with stems and leaves.
