Polistes

Polistes is a genus of wasps in the family Vespidae. They are commonly known as the 'Paper' wasps as their nests are made of wood and plant fibres mixed with saliva to create a grey or brown papery substance.

All members of the genus are predatory and consume large numbers of caterpillars.
