Colour forms of Ischnura elegans

Female Ischnura elegans have a number of colour forms. They start life with either a reddish-pink (rufescens) or with a violet (violacea) thorax.

A genus of damselfly easily recognized by a blue marking at the end of their abdomen. The pterostigma on the forewing of the males are usually bi-coloured.
