Papacy of Adrian V 1276

Following the death of Pope Innocent V on the 22nd of June 1276, Ottobono Fieschi, was elected Pope Adrian V on the 12th of July 1276.1 He remained pope until his death, a month later, on the 18th of August 1276.

 

Adrian was the third Pope to be elected in 1276, and was a nephew of Pope Innocent IV. His election to the papacy was influenced by Charles of Anjou, who was in dispute with the Genoese.
