Frederick II is crowned Holy Roman Emperor 1220

On the 22nd of November 1220 Frederick II is crowned as the Holy Roman Emperor in Rome by Honorius III. In 1239 he was excommunicated by pope Gregory IX because of his attempts to suppress the Lombard League, and in 1245 the Council of Lyon under pope Innocent IV declared him to be deposed.1
