On the 13th of October 1399 Henry IV is crowned King of England, Richard II having abdicated two weeks earlier. Initially Henry had Richard imprisoned, moving him to Pontefract Castle towards the end of December. However, after the Epiphany Rising, Henry came to the realisation that whilst Richard was alive there would always be a danger of rebellion.
