The left hand doorway of Chartres Cathedral is decorated with an Ascension scene where Chist is accompanied by angels. The sculpture dates from the middle of the 12th century.

This panel from the East Window at Poitiers Cathedral is dated to around 1170. It shows christ ascended into heaven with an angel on either side of him. The window was donated by Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine.
