Robber Fly Asilidae sp
Asilidae sp.

The robberflies are powerful insects with sharp piercing mouthparts. However, they are harmless to humans. Mainly active in hot sunny conditions, they prefer sitting on well drained exposed sandy soil, logs, posts, or stones. Highly alert, and with a very mobile head they watch for the slightest movement ready to pounce on its prey.
