Louis of Luxemboug tomb

 

This effigy of Louis of Luxemboug (d1443) is covered by a canopy which has quatrefoils enclosing shields.

 

Louis was made Archbishop of Rouen in 1436, a Cardinal in 1439, and later Bishop of Ely to compensate for his lost revenues in France due to to 100 years war. In addition he was made also made Chancellor of France by Henry VI of England. When Joan of Arc was captured at Compiegne, she was first held by Louis' brother John of Luxembourg before passed her on to Duke of Burgundy who later sold her to the English.1
