Annunciation by Fra Angelico - San Marco, Florence

Annunciation scene at the entrance to the monk cells at the monastery of San Marco in Florence. This fresco painted by Fra Angelico in about 1442 is one of the most well known images of the Renaissance.

The painting is part of a series of some 50 frescos that Angelico created for the redesigned and renovated monastery that was designed by the architect Michelozzo di Bartolomeo, and financed by the Medici family
