The adults are typically found around freshwater pools with floating pond-weed or algal mats. The lifecycle of species is little known but the larvae are thought, like the adults, to be predatory ,and to develop in damp soil.

 

The females do not have patterned wing markings. The males make a conspicuous display of their wing markings when courting the females.
